Day in the life of me. Mother of three, wife of one. Thankful for good life, good food, good friends! Basking in God's magnificent Glory each day. A record of my life's journey!
For one year, I did not love the sound of my piano. I had it tuned twice...still didn't love it. Today, I moved it against the wall...like the way I had it before the fire.... Now, I love it! I am not a music genius but I can hear the difference... I am happy.
It was like Christmas. I had to open 50? 70? boxes? I opened up one by one, not knowing what was inside. Some it was pure joy to open up and find... others, I thought "what? I didn't want this junk back!" The greatest miracle of all was that I received ALL my pictures back. All cleaned up and all in ziplock bags and some still in it's original albums! I coulnd't believe that my wedding album came back as well! There was this one picture of our Kim family from the North. Since Grandpa Kim fled North Korea with only his cothes, he wasn't able to bring ANY pictures of his family. Years later, he found a long lost friend of a relative in Seoul who had this ONE picture of their family picture dated 1939! Yup, this unique wedding picture of a wedding party survived! I remmber saying, "all the Bibles in the house were safe except two..." I found the two additional Bibles in one of the boxes. There were lots of things I was happy to see. My soon tofu Korean bowls.. My silver tea sets from my estate sale days.... all came back looking really shinny... I really didn't know what they salvaged and what was coming back. I found ENK's old h.s. transcript, old stamp collection book he collected as a little boy in Korea.... my cookbooks etc. etc....
I am so tired from getting my house into a home...but it's good kind of tired. Our mattress move will be Monday. The kids and I slept in the new BH for the frist time last night on the floor. It was great to be back home. So new and different yet so familiar. It's hard to explain.
It is finished. What's left for this week is final touch up paint all over the house and final clean up and powerwash outside.
What a journey! We are thankful for everything, even the hard journey. We had a nice house before, but what we have now is amazing. What on earth happened that we get this brand new house?? It really is a gift. We'll dedicate this house to God that all who walk through our doors will be blessed and will know of his His provisions for all of us.....
Front of the house: Original paint color was very dark. We initially set a trend in our neighborhood and everyone started painting darker colors. Now we switched back to lighter colors to give it a fresh new look. ENK thinks it's too light! Oh well, once again, it's done.
This is S'tile's glass mosaic. This was chosen because of the pretty irridescent colors but it was very affordable at $12 a sq. ft. compared to tile mosaics that were $30 to $40 a sq. ft. This tile was used extensively all over the house.
3x6 subway tiles with glass mosaics.
This is our dry bar. It's usually called "wet" bar if it has a sink but we don't. We'll put our beverage fridge here in the middle. Family room fireplace above and living room fireplace below.
Heated limestone tiles in the kitchen. view from the top of the stairs...
Kids bathroom vanities. Girls in cream and boys in dark espresso.
Projected final inspection day: 2/17/10! That's less than 3 weeks away. Wood floors should be finished next Monday or Tuesday and then it's carpet installation. Plumber and the electrician will return and install all the fixtures. Then it's done. Minor lanscaping and fencing redo and ENK would rather take in $ so that he can work on the rest of the deck himself... But for now, we're thinking of moving into the house the first week of March. It's our old house but looks waaaay different!
