Drea in Africa...

My good friend Drea is a OB/GYN physician here in Tualatin.  (she has been my kids carpool mom for several years and our two families have become close)  She's been my inspiration when it comes to serving in the mission field.  Every year she has gone to Mexico with the Medical Teams International organization.   When an opportunity for her to go to Africa for the first time this year,  she was so excited to share the news!    She is there now for 2 weeks in Niger.  Her blog entries have been so moving and powerful that I wanted to share her stories.  What a wonderful Christian woman she is!  Drea's amazing encounters and experiences recorded in her blog.

Tuesday Mornings....

For those who know me well, know that I am not available on Tuesday mornings. For the last four years, I have been attending my Tuesday morning Bible Study with BSF at a local church.  Imagine over 700 women gathered for one purpose to study the word of God!  It's a 7 year study cycle, and I am completing my fourth year!  Well, this particular BSF class in Tualatin is the world's LARGEST group in the world!  (BSF is worldwide) Next year, they will separate the 700 women into 2.  I have a choice between mornings or evenings.... (Evening is study of Ruth and Mornings will be Genesis) What to do....  But I do like consistency in my life.  I will continue my Tuesday morning studies....We meet together, then break into small groups before we meet again in the Sanctuary.  I like to sit in the back and look down!  I have now a following of women who likes it up there with me! :)  Come join me sometimes!

This is my garden today!  It's Spring here in Portland!!! Finally!!!!

President's weekend 2012.....

One more week of February left? How time really flies... This is what we did last weekend with the family....
Portland Trail Blazers game Sat. night with a group of boys from church! What a great game!Mt. Hood Meadows on Sunday... "Max Capacity" so they say... We almost didn't make it in the parking lot... but we "sweet talked" ourselves in and found parking. The lift lines were short, the runs were practically empty... the sun was almost, well, the weather was nice but no sun. I just imagined Mammoth on a holiday weekend... but nope, this is Oregon. Prisitine powder snow and miles of empty terraine like this. We can now all ski together as a family! We met up with Kev and the kids too.... Need to go back again... we had a blast!

On Sunday, the kids and grandpa got their teeth cleaned by ENK and Allison got a haircut! Cute!
I picked up Pacific COD from Costco and made a quick meal. (Sauce was combination of soy sauce, garlic, Korean kochu garu, sugar, and lemon, topped with green onions and onions. ( I preferred this cod over Dover Sole... the meat was firmer and no fishy taste!)While I was there at the salon with Allison, the ajummah convinced me to get a PAMA.... I haven't had a perm since 1989! So I went today... Pictures to come soon.

Randy: What did you do today Mom? 

Sue:  I had a Skype meeting with Pastor C from Orange County about PUC Camp Meeting, picked up Lindsey, Picked up you guys... pick up groceries..my usual!"

Randy: Skype? 

Sue: Yes, Skype!

Randy: Skype is officially uncool.  Because my mom uses it! 

Unconventional V day gift....

This year, ENK did surprise me with a bouquet of roses on V morning, before he left for work. That was sweet... totally unexpected! But I have received many "unconventional" V day gifts in the past.... like custom made coffee table, side table and now this. He worked on a closet system for our master bedroom. This was his V day bonus gift for me!

Really? 5 years ago?

We have another driver in the house! ENK is in high demand these days.  He's helping Lindsey practice her driving, taking Allison to the gym to practice basketball drills with her, and also taking Randy to hockey 2 times a week!  When the girls have school homework question, they ask for dad, not me.   ENK sends girls upstairs to do homework while him and Randy watch NBA games together...Randy loves this time with him these days.  In our 15 years of parenting, he has never been this involved.... that sounds pretty bad but those who know ENK, will know it's true.  He will acknowledge that I did most of the work when they were younger... that's why he always says "I wish we had one more!"

Here she comes....  last  curb, last stretch..... I ran the last mile.  But the last mile was very long.
